Our Story: Carrying Forward an American Tradition

This year, as America marks 250 years, we've found ourselves reflecting on the kind of legacy that has quietly shaped this country for generations. Not through headlines or history books, but through families who cared for the land, raised food with integrity, and served their communities. 

That tradition is the heart of Vintage Meadows.

When Ryan stepped away from the family business in 2013, it wasn’t because farming was the easier path. It was because he longed for work that was tangible, meaningful, and rooted in something that would last. What began with a few chickens, pigs, and cattle raised for his own family slowly grew into a calling: to provide other families with food they could trust. 

Farmer Ryan and Katrina chose the name Vintage Meadows because they believed some of the best ideas aren't new at all. Long before food traveled thousands of miles or became just another commodity, small family farms nourished their neighbors. Farmers cared for the soil because they knew healthy land would care for future generations. Relationships mattered just as much as the harvest. 

That’s the tradition we strive to carry forward every day. 

As Ryan often says,

"We do ourselves and posterity a great disservice when we fail to steward well the relationships with living things that we have been entrusted with, whether those relationships are with humans, livestock, plants growing above ground or the microbes in the soil."

That belief shapes every decision we make—from the way we care for our animals and steward our land to the partnerships we build and the families we serve.

Vintage Meadows has grown far beyond what was imagined. Through years of hard work, setbacks, prayer, and the support of families like yours, we've been blessed to serve communities across Indiana and Illinois. While much has changed since those first days, our purpose hasn't. 

We're still committed to raising animals with care, stewarding the land responsibly, partnering with like-minded local producers, and building relationships that extend far beyond a simple transaction.

As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, we're grateful to be part of a tradition that values hard work, stewardship, and neighbor helping neighbor. Those ideals have stood the test of time, and we believe they're just as important today as they've ever been.
